Description
English: A snake milker demonstrates the correct procedure of milking two juvenile Malayan pit vipers (Calloselasma rhodostoma), with the process filmed in slow motion for better perspective of each step. Milking juveniles differs from adults primarily due to the lower amount of venom, their propensity for dry bites (to conserve venom), and the way their bodies will flail, potentially distracting the milker. This footage was shot for our documentary, "Snake Milking: The Most Nerve-racking Aspect of Producing Antivenom," which is viewable and downloadable through the Scenoptica project (https://scenoptica.com/documentary/snake-milking.html).
